Escort Mission: ALA Midwinter

Arrived at Convention Center, waiting for my friends who are getting me in to get here. Who's shocked that there's free Wi-Fi here? Not me, that's for sure.

Things I've noticed so far: You can pick librarians out of a crowd without too much difficulty. Layers seems to be the dress code. Lots of patterns. Aaand a gentleman just walked by in a sweater vest, eee. Lots of people with large purses/shoulder bags. Mostly pants, but skirts are well represented. No kilts yet, but I guess it's not a formal-enough thing for real kilts, and utili-kilts may be too casual. More women lean toward the quirky business-casual than the men, who mostly seem to go with basic business casual. I've seen two women with pink highlights in the past ten minutes.

Also, pretty much everyone is wearing comfy boots or shoes. Also no shock there.

More to come, I intend to blog a bit throughout the day. Or at least take notes and summarize this evening, my cohort demands a run-down.
