Adventures!
Jan. 31st, 2013 01:07 pmSo, for those of you who missed the Facebooking, I accidentally took the BoltBus to Portland from Seattle on Monday, instead of the one to Vancouver. Fortunately, because the driver screwed up because he checked my ticket before allowing me on said bus, I got a free ride back to Seattle. Missed both my Tuesday classes, but the slides were put up online so I could read them and one of my classmates took notes for me. I'm just going to count it down as a learning experience.
Also, I didn't completely freak out. I had a bit of a cry, but it was after the practical aspect of things had been dealt with and I was feeling overwhelmed, but I didn't freak out and melt down. Yaaaaaaaaaay me!
Also yaaaaaaaaay, my accidentally self-inflicted doomy week is wrapped. I had a PowerPoint presentation to turn in on Monday (online, and it was just to demonstrate that I could use PowerPoint), an essay to turn in on Tuesday (also online, fortunately; and only 1800-2000 words on my personal experience using information reference RE: trying to figure out how to bank in Canada), and I lead a 45 minute discussion group on our censorship readings yesterday. The discussion group was fun, you can imagine that Library/Archival students have Opinions on censorship. I mostly just had to make sure that everyone had a chance to talk (our token boy apparently didn't have anything to say; I kept checking in with him but he kept going "nope, I don't have anything to say on this reading". FOR ALL THREE READINGS) and make sure we actually touched on all of the readings instead of just the one everyone was most excited about.
I need to pick a topic for my next 500 project -- we're making websites, and this one she wants us to do actual research for. I think I'm going to do mine on "digital natives", ie people who grew up with all these fun technological toys.
Also, someone's finally coming by to fix our clothes dryer today. YAY! I feel like an energy waster when I run the same load through the damn thing twice, but my stuff is still wet after the first time through. Since the washer and dryer are in my room, I've quickly shuffled all of my clutter out of the way so my space looks...neat-ish. I also found out that my slanted writing desk doesn't fit on my desk-desk. I should see how much it costs to bring luggage on the BoltBus, might as well have the writing desk on my desk at home where it can be useful!
